Seokgang Folk Painting Research Association to Hold Annual Exhibition from December 27 to 31
Samcheok City in Gangwon Province will hold the "2025 Samcheok Folk Painting Exhibition" from December 27 to 31 to promote the value and artistic appeal of the region's traditional culture.
This exhibition is organized by the Seokgang Folk Painting Research Association and will be held under the theme "Samcheok, Shining Through Folk Paintings." It will showcase works that blend the beauty of traditional folk painting with modern interpretations.
Beyond simply viewing the artworks, the exhibition will feature a variety of programs that allow visitors to experience the charm of folk paintings firsthand. Activities include an eco-bag making workshop that incorporates folk painting into daily life, as well as a special lecture on "Hyeokpilhwa," a type of folk painting, highlighting the diversity and artistic depth of this tradition.
A city official stated, "Through this folk painting exhibition, we will actively support the creative activities of local artists and continue to broaden citizens' access to culture by offering various cultural and artistic programs utilizing traditional cultural content."
