About 20 participants attended the meeting, including representatives from Seongnam City, Seongnam City Council, Seongnam Office of Education, Bundang Joongang High School, and Seongnam Policy Research Institute. They reviewed ways for the future-oriented science high school in Seongnam to give back to and contribute to the local community, and discussed directions for future utilization.
The purpose of this research was to analyze domestic and international cases of science high schools collaborating with local communities, based on the operational direction of the Seongnam Future-Oriented Science High School, and to derive a Seongnam-style community contribution model through a public awareness survey. As a result, various programs were proposed, such as Pangyo IT industry-academia cooperation, IT education volunteering for underprivileged groups, science club festivals, regional IT competitions, and youth environmental living labs.
Seongnam City plans to request that the Seongnam Office of Education and Bundang Joongang High School refer to these research results when developing the science high school curriculum for 2026. The city also intends to respond by building a collaborative ecosystem among local companies, universities, and educational institutions centered around the future-oriented science high school.
In addition, on the 29th, Seongnam City will participate in the "Gyeonggi Future-Oriented Science High School Regional Talent Selection Introduction Forum" hosted by the Seongnam Office of Education, where it plans to strongly advocate for a 40% quota for local talent selection in Seongnam.
