Yuanta Securities analyzed on December 26 that an expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) robot foundry operations is anticipated for Kowintech. The company did not provide an investment opinion or target price.
Kowintech signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Seojin System on December 23. Kwon Myungjun, a researcher at Yuanta Securities, stated, "A cooperative structure for mass production and commercialization of robots will be established, aimed at building an AI robot foundry business system. In the short term, the company will begin with the ESS industry and later expand into the semiconductor sector, with expectations for global business expansion as well."
He also expects continued orders for robots for the ESS sector. In September of this year, Kowintech secured new orders for robot systems (such as AMRs and assembly robots) from global ESS manufacturers.
He emphasized, "The business scope has expanded from a focus on battery cell automation to the ESS industry. The orders include AMRs capable of transporting large ESS containers, which means that Kowintech's strength in handling heavy loads has been further extended."
He added, "The expansion is not limited to AMRs but is also linked to assembly robots. In the future, the company could expand to logistics warehouse-related robot products such as racks and stackers, making turnkey orders possible."
Additionally, he gave a positive assessment of this month's supply contract for AMRs and assembly robots with a global ESS manufacturer. He stated, "It is estimated that the ESS supplier is different from the one in September, as this contract involves assembly robots capable of handling various module sizes, rather than just a single module assembly method."
He further noted, "Given the need to handle various module sizes, it is highly likely that the end customer is an overseas client."
