Urgent Notification of Personal Information Breach

An incident has occurred at Asiana Airlines in which the personal information of employees, including names and phone numbers, has been leaked.


According to the airline industry on December 25, Asiana Airlines urgently issued a personal information leakage notification to its staff at around 2:30 p.m. that day.


In the notification, Asiana Airlines stated that on the previous day, unauthorized external access (hacking) to the company’s intranet, Telepia, occurred via unauthorized access to an overseas server.

The leaked information includes intranet accounts and encrypted passwords, employee numbers, departments, positions, names, phone numbers, and email addresses of approximately 10,000 people, including Asiana Airlines employees and staff from partner companies such as the call center.


Asiana Airlines explained that, in particular, no customer information was leaked.


An Asiana Airlines representative stated, "As soon as we became aware of the leak, we blocked the illegal access route," adding, "We promptly notified employees and relevant organizations such as the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), and we are actively implementing necessary protective measures, including changing system administrator accounts and passwords."
