Expanded Support for Emergency Shelters and Cold Weather Supplies
Seoul City has activated its situation management system in response to the cold wave affecting the entire city.
On December 25 at 5 p.m., Seoul City announced that it had launched its situation management system focused on protecting vulnerable groups, following a cold wave response status inspection meeting presided over by Kim Seongbo, Deputy Mayor for Administration II.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a cold wave advisory is scheduled to take effect across Seoul at 9 p.m. on this day, and temperatures are expected to drop significantly for the time being.
On the afternoon of the 25th, Kim Sungbo, Deputy Mayor for Administration of Seoul, and related department and bureau heads attended the cold wave response status inspection meeting. Seoul City.
In response, the city will: ▲ operate a 24-hour comprehensive cold wave support situation room; ▲ issue a freeze alert for water pipes and run a dedicated situation room for rapid restoration in case of burst pipes; ▲ maintain an emergency room surveillance system with the participation of 68 medical institutions; ▲ protect vulnerable groups such as homeless individuals, residents of small rooming houses, and elderly people living alone; ▲ and maintain an emergency response system.
In particular, the city will strengthen patrols and counseling services to protect the homeless and other street-vulnerable groups, and expand support for emergency shelters and cold weather supplies. It will also maintain a cooperative system with related agencies to check on the well-being of citizens in need of care, such as elderly people living alone and people with disabilities, and to respond quickly to emergencies.
Kim Seongbo, Deputy Mayor for Administration II of Seoul City, stated, "Please make every effort to protect vulnerable groups so that there are no casualties from the sudden cold wave," and urged, "All departments and district offices should thoroughly manage the situation and respond quickly to citizen inconveniences, such as reports of burst water pipes."
