Home Robot Specialized for Household Tasks
Learns Environment and Lifestyle Through AI
Establishment of Robotics Research Lab to Secure Technology
LG Electronics will unveil a new home robot at CES 2026, the world’s largest home appliance and IT exhibition, which will be held on January 6 (local time) next month.
At 10 a.m. on the 25th (Korean time), LG Electronics released a teaser video for the home robot through its global social media accounts. The video introduced the home robot’s name, “LG CLOiD.” The robot was shown picking up and lifting household items using five fingers, as well as exchanging a fist bump with a person, hinting at its ability to interact and connect with humans.
The name CLOiD combines LG Electronics’ robot brand “CLOi” with the “D” from “Dynamic,” symbolizing dynamism. The concept originated from the idea that, in order to help customers save time and effort spent on housework and focus on more valuable activities, a new form factor is needed-one that not only reduces chores through appliances but also performs tasks directly.

The two arms and five fingers attached to CLOiD’s body enable delicate, human-like movements, allowing it to smoothly perform household tasks in environments designed for people. Based on artificial intelligence, CLOiD is equipped with the ability to autonomously recognize and learn about its surroundings. It is also planned to serve as an AI assistant, managing various AI-powered appliances according to the resident’s schedule and lifestyle, and providing personalized care.
LG Electronics regards the robotics field, including home robots, as a “clear future” and is accelerating technological advancement. In its latest organizational restructuring, the company established the HS Robotics Research Lab under the Home Solution (HS) Business Division. This move aims to consolidate home robot capabilities that were previously dispersed across the company, secure differentiated future technologies, and enhance product competitiveness.
LG Electronics is also expanding collaboration with external companies possessing leading robotics technologies. This year, the company signed research agreements with robot specialist company Robotis and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and is conducting joint research. It is also investing in global robotics companies such as Figure AI in the United States and AGIbot in China, researching a variety of technologies to improve the safety and practicality of home robots.
Baek Seungtae, Executive Vice President and Head of the HS Business Division at LG Electronics, said, “At CES 2026, we will showcase not only the home robot LG CLOiD but also LG Electronics’ efforts toward realizing the ‘Zero Labor Home’ vision.”
