Researchers and Women Account for 31% and 29% of Workforce, Respectively
Pangyo Techno Valley in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, has firmly established itself as the core hub of Korea's digital industry. The number of employees at Pangyo Techno Valley Phase 1 and 2 has surpassed 83,000, and both research and development activities and employment among companies continue to expand steadily.

According to the "2025 Pangyo Techno Valley Survey" released by Gyeonggi Province on December 25, the total number of tenant companies in Pangyo Phase 1 and 2 stands at 1,780, a decrease of 23 from the previous year. Gyeonggi Province analyzed that this was a temporary phenomenon, as some of the initial tenant companies in Phase 1 moved to new headquarters. Specifically, Phase 1 saw a decrease of 45 companies, with 1,196 companies remaining, while Phase 2 increased by 22 companies, from 562 to 584, marking a 3.9% growth.

The total number of employees reached 83,465, an increase of 4,593 (about 6%) compared to the previous year. Notably, Phase 2 saw a significant expansion in employment, with the number of employees rising from 11,538 to 15,766, an increase of 4,228 (36.7%). Approximately 60% of all employees are in their 20s and 30s, with the average age being 37.9 years. Researchers account for 31% of the total workforce, and women make up 29%.
By industry, information technology (IT) represents the largest share at 61.5%, followed by biotechnology (BT) and cultural technology (CT), each at 11%. By company size, small and medium-sized enterprises account for the vast majority at 85%, while mid-sized companies make up 9.3% and large corporations 3.7%, demonstrating that the innovation ecosystem remains centered on small and medium-sized businesses.
The total annual sales of Pangyo Techno Valley reached 226.1 trillion won, with sales based on Pangyo business sites amounting to 68.4 trillion won. For future business revitalization, tenant companies identified strengthening public transportation accessibility (average score of 4.56), improving parking issues (4.25), and expanding convenience facilities (3.89) as top priorities.
Jung Hankyu, Director of Advanced Mobility Industry at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "To ensure Pangyo Techno Valley continues to lead Korea's digital industry, we will work with relevant agencies to provide effective transportation measures and improve the business environment, offering ongoing administrative support as needed."
