Indicted for Violating the Political Funds Act
Yoon Sukyeol Faces Seventh Indictment Since Martial Law Incident

The special prosecutor's team led by Min Junggi, investigating allegations related to Kim Keonhee, indicted former President Yoon Sukyeol on December 24 for receiving illegal opinion polls from Myung Taegyun. This marks the seventh time former President Yoon has been indicted since the December 3 Martial Law Incident.

The special prosecutor's team announced to the media on this day that former President Yoon and Mr. Myung were indicted on charges of violating the Political Funds Act. The team also requested a provisional seizure for criminal proceeds amounting to 137.2 million won, which former President Yoon allegedly obtained in violation of the Political Funds Act.

Mr. Myung was indicted without detention, while former President Yoon, who is currently in custody, faced additional charges. Kim Keonhee, who was indicted and detained in August on the same charges as former President Yoon, is awaiting the first trial verdict scheduled for January 28.

Former President Yoon is accused of conspiring with Mrs. Kim to receive a total of 58 opinion polls worth 270 million won from Mr. Myung free of charge between June 2021 and March 2022. Mr. Myung was indicted for providing these illegal opinion polls.

In connection with these allegations, former President Yoon appeared before the special prosecutor's team on December 20 for questioning. The special prosecutor's team is also investigating whether former President Yoon, in collusion with Mrs. Kim, received expensive gifts and personnel or business favors from Lee Bonggwan, Chairman of Seohi Construction, and Lee Baeyong, former Chairperson of the National Education Commission, among others.

The special prosecutor's team is expected to finalize charges related to these allegations during the remaining investigation period and indict the couple together. The investigation period for the special prosecutor's team runs until December 28.
