Policy Proposal for Discarded Clothing Issues through a Digital Platform
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced that students from the Department of Public Administration have been recognized externally for their outstanding policy planning and analysis capabilities by winning the grand prize at a nationwide policy contest.
Han Hyowon, Kim Minseo, and Baek Ayoung, sophomores in the Department of Public Administration at Dong-A University, received the highest honor, the grand prize, at the National College Student Policy Idea Contest, which was held in conjunction with the regular general meeting of the Korean Association for Policy Analysis and Evaluation at Kookmin University on December 19.
The winning team set the issue of discarded clothing as their policy task and proposed a policy idea to encourage citizen participation by utilizing a digital platform (application), earning high praise. In particular, their analysis of environmental issues from the perspective of administration and policy, as well as their organic design of the roles of government and citizens, drew attention from the judges.
The students said, "It was a meaningful experience to apply the policy analysis theories we learned in our major courses to real social problems," and added, "We want to continue developing policies that can contribute to solving social issues."
Han Saeok, head of the Department of Public Administration at Dong-A University, stated, "It is a very meaningful achievement that our students analyzed social problems from a policy perspective and proposed creative solutions," adding, "This award demonstrates the results of our department's practice-oriented education, which focuses on problem-solving."
