Despite challenging conditions this year, including economic downturn, rapid demographic changes, and industrial transformation, Yeongcheon City actively implemented job creation policies tailored to local circumstances, creating approximately 17,750 jobs as of October, which is 104% of its 2025 target.

Additionally, according to the Statistics Korea survey in the first half of the year, Yeongcheon recorded an employment rate of 68.3%, ranking first among cities in the province and fourth nationwide, earning recognition for its abundant job opportunities and contributing to local vitality.

Furthermore, the city has continuously worked to improve job quality by attracting investments from high-quality companies and promoting industrial innovation and export expansion, thereby enhancing industrial competitiveness and revitalizing the labor market.

Through attracting strategic companies such as signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for a 160 billion won investment with CAPEC Valeo, Yeongcheon has strengthened its foundation as a hub for core electric vehicle parts. The operation of the Intelligent IoT Parts Center, the Donam Industrial District Innovation Platform, and the achievements of the overseas trade delegation in signing export MOUs (contracts totaling 48.93 million dollars, a fourfold increase compared to 2024) have further boosted industrial vitality and competitiveness, expanding the foundation for the influx of quality labor into the market.

In addition, the city has promoted the recovery of the local economy through comprehensive support for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and achieved results in creating a "prosperous rural community that attracts visitors" by increasing the added value and specialization of agriculture. Customized job support for youth, women, the elderly, and vulnerable groups has also been strengthened, continuously expanding tangible job outcomes for citizens.

At the job creation awards ceremony held that day, commendations were also given to individuals and organizations for their contributions to job creation. Hwashin Co., Ltd., which is leading the way in establishing a foundation for win-win cooperation; Jung Hyesoon, CEO of Jungwoo Hitech Co., Ltd., a female entrepreneur who is at the forefront of technological innovation and job creation; and the Gyeongbuk Automotive Embedded Research Institute, a leading local research institution actively engaged in job projects, were among the honorees.

A city official stated, "This award is the result of collaboration among citizens, businesses, and the administration-the key players in the local economy. We will continue to focus our administrative capabilities on creating quality jobs, revitalizing the local economy, and improving the quality of life for our citizens."
