Buan County Extends 50% Discount on Agricultural Machinery Rental Fees Through Next Year

Buan County in North Jeolla Province will extend its "50% discount on agricultural machinery rental fees" policy, which was originally scheduled to end at the end of this year, for one more year until the end of next year.

According to the county on the 24th, this extension was decided after a recent meeting of the Agricultural Machinery Rental Business Review Committee. The move aims to alleviate the management burden on local farmers who are struggling due to rising agricultural material prices and increased labor costs.

The county currently operates 1,019 agricultural machines of 59 types at three agricultural machinery rental centers. This year, approximately 7,000 farmers benefited from the discount policy, receiving a total of 187 million won in support.

Rental fees for agricultural machinery are calculated based on the purchase price. For equipment with a purchase price under 1 million won, the daily rental fee starts at 5,000 won. Even for high-priced equipment costing over 45 million won, the maximum daily rental fee is set at an affordable 105,000 won.

In particular, the "branch shredder," used for wildfire prevention and disposal of agricultural byproducts, will continue to be rented out free of charge as before.

Kim Yangnyeong, Head of the Technology Supply Division, said, "We hope the extension of the agricultural machinery rental fee discount will provide practical help for local farmers to practice low-cost, high-efficiency farm management," adding, "We will continue to prepare various support measures to reduce the management burden on farming households."
