Jangwoo Lee, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "The 5-Region 3-Special Policy being pursued by the President as part of the balanced growth initiative and the integration of Daejeon and Chungnam are policies that are closely aligned," adding, "We actively welcome the President's support for integration."

On the morning of the 24th, Mayor Lee made these remarks during a private meeting with Taehum Kim, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do, in the governor’s reception room at the Chungnam Provincial Government Office.

Mayor Lee emphasized, "Through extensive discussions among the research institutes of both cities and provinces, experts, and public-private consultative bodies, all matters related to local decentralization and balanced development, including fiscal, organizational, and authority transfers, have already been included in the special bill."

The mayors and governors of both regions stated, "Going forward, we will maintain a close cooperative system to ensure that fiscal special provisions and authority transfers for genuine local autonomy and decentralization are properly reflected in the legislative process at the National Assembly."

Jangwoo Lee, Mayor of Daejeon, and Taehum Kim, Governor of Chungnam, held in-depth discussions on the future direction of administrative integration between Daejeon and Chungnam.
