During the committee meeting, participants reviewed the 2025 implementation results for 107 indicators under the "Guri City Basic Strategy and Implementation Plan for Sustainable Development," discussed areas for supplementation and improvement, and explored ways to increase the achievement rate of the 2026 targets.
In addition, the committee shared the "2nd Guri City Public Design Promotion Plan," which is linked to social changes such as population and climate in Guri City, along with the current status of related projects. Members also exchanged opinions on the future direction of public design.
The "Guri City Basic Strategy and Implementation Plan for Sustainable Development" is based on the vision of "A Smart Future City of Guri Where Everyone Thrives Together!" and consists of 17 goals (GR-SDGs) and 107 indicators across four sectors: economy, social welfare, environment, and governance. The city is working toward achieving each indicator to build a sustainable city.
As of the end of October 2025, the review of implementation results by indicator showed that six goals and 70 indicators-including customized education city, establishment of a foundation for corporate growth and promotion of smartization, a sustainable and happy city with high cultural accessibility, greenhouse gas reduction to respond to the climate crisis, sustainable use of river ecosystems, and securing biodiversity for an eco-friendly city-achieved 100% of their targets.
The average achievement rate for all 107 indicators was 91.9%, and it is expected that most indicators will reach 100% by the end of December this year.
The committee also shared the 2nd Guri City Public Design Promotion Plan and the current status of related projects as part of efforts to respond to social environmental changes such as population shifts and the climate crisis. Various opinions were exchanged to address social issues and reflect citizens' feedback in city administration.
Mayor Baek Kyunghyun stated, "Sustainable development is an important goal for not only the current generation but also future generations to enjoy a better life," adding, "In 2026, we will continue to do our best with a sense of responsibility to achieve each target and ensure the sustainable development of Guri City."
He also requested, "I hope that members of the Guri City Sustainable Development Committee will continue to play a pivotal role in each field-economy, environment, welfare, urban development, and governance-based on their expertise."
Meanwhile, Guri City plans to further accelerate the creation of a sustainable city in 2026 by thoroughly carrying out implementation procedures such as quarterly indicator management reviews, sustainability assessments, and preparation of reports to ensure the successful execution of the sustainable development implementation plan.
