The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency held a plaque ceremony on December 24 at the Gyeonggi Bio Center in Suwon City to celebrate receiving full accreditation from the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC International).
AAALAC International accreditation is an international standard certification granted after a comprehensive evaluation of whether the management and use of laboratory animals comply with global guidelines. It targets institutions engaged in laboratory animal research, such as research institutes, universities, and hospitals. More than 1,000 institutions in over 50 countries worldwide currently hold this accreditation.

The Laboratory Animal Facility of the Bio Industry Division at the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency achieved full accreditation by establishing an operational system that faithfully reflects the standards of the "Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (NRC, 2011)."
With this accreditation, the agency plans to continuously advance its laboratory animal management system and enhance the research environment necessary for conducting preclinical and international collaborative research.
Lee Jongseok, Head of the Bio Industry Division at the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, stated, "This full accreditation from AAALAC International is the result of our ongoing efforts to establish an internationally recognized standard of animal welfare and an ethical research environment. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen our preclinical research capabilities based on responsible laboratory animal management and strive to enhance the international competitiveness of Gyeonggi-do's bio industry."
