Hallym University Holds "2025 University City Chuncheon Forum"... Building a Collaborative Model for Local Government, Industry, and Academia

Sharing Research Achievements to Address Local Issues with Chuncheon City and Kangwon National University
Eight Research Teams from Hallym University and Kangwon National University Present Policy Studies

Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) held the "2025 University City Chuncheon Forum" on December 23, together with Chuncheon City and Kangwon National University, at the International Conference Room of the 60th Anniversary Memorial Hall on the Chuncheon campus of Kangwon National University.

This forum, organized by the Chuncheon City University Cooperation Council, was designed to explore strategies for mutual growth between the local community and universities, as well as to share the achievements of regional development policy research projects. The event was attended by approximately 120 people, including Park Joonsik, Vice President of Hallym University; Yuk Donghan, Mayor of Chuncheon; Kim Jinho, Chairman of Chuncheon City Council; Lim Euyeong, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Kangwon National University; Chuncheon city council members; heads of policy research projects; and representatives from universities and local governments.


During the forum, four research teams each from Hallym University and Kangwon National University presented their policy research findings. Hallym University’s presentations included: ▲Research on the establishment of a Glocal Impact Startup Camp Hub linked to Chuncheon Station C (Professor Kim Yonggeun’s team, Department of Business Administration); ▲Measures to alleviate workforce supply-demand imbalances due to increased demand for integrated care (Professor Lee Sangdeok’s team, Ilsong Liberal Arts College); ▲Research on drug prevention education for university and international students (Professor Lee Sujeong’s team, Department of Nursing); and ▲Research on the use of generative AI to strengthen the competitiveness of small business owners (Professor Hwang Hyunseok’s team, Department of Business Administration).


Kangwon National University’s presentations included: ▲Research on fostering defense industry professionals and linking with local industries in Chuncheon (Professor Kim Ikhyeon’s team, Department of Digital Military Studies); ▲Achieving a cleaner Chuncheon through citizen, technology, and institutional linkages (Professor Ahn Jonghwa’s team, Department of Environmental Engineering); ▲Research on a drone-based transportation welfare model to improve welfare accessibility in transportation-disadvantaged areas of Chuncheon (Professor Lee Seyoung’s team, Department of Convergence Security); and ▲Policy research on establishing a roadmap for attracting and retaining foreign talent in Chuncheon (Professor Jin Muwi’s team, School of Global Convergence).


Park Joonsik, Vice President of Hallym University, stated, "These studies, which are directly connected to real-world issues facing University City Chuncheon, mark the starting point for implementing a collaborative model among local government, industry, and academia, going beyond mere academic achievements. Hallym University will continue to make significant efforts for Chuncheon to become a true university city and a glocal innovation city."


The University Cooperation Council, formed by Chuncheon City, Hallym University, and Kangwon National University, plans to continue bringing together the human and material resources and infrastructure of the region and the universities to discuss various strategies for regional development in the future.
