Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province has been honored as the "Best City" for the second consecutive year, ranking first overall in the evaluation of the "Gyeonggi Province Special Tax Collection Measures," which was implemented to achieve the 2025 provincial tax collection target.
This evaluation was conducted by Gyeonggi Province over a five-month period from June to October 2025, targeting 31 cities and counties within the province. Gyeonggi Province selected outstanding cities and counties in three groups based on their tax collection performance relative to the target amount, and Hanam City won the top award in its group again this year, following its achievement in 2024.
Through systematic and proactive special collection activities, Hanam City significantly increased its provincial tax collection performance. In particular, the city focused on identifying potential sources of tax leakage or omission by thoroughly managing real estate properties that received acquisition tax reductions on the condition of donation, and by closely inspecting whether additional taxes should be applied when corporations acquire residential properties.
As a result of these efforts, the city exceeded its 2025 provincial tax revenue target by 76.6 billion won. In addition, Hanam City secured an extra 2.3 billion won in collection grants, making a significant contribution to increasing its own-source revenue.
Shim Kwangseop, Head of the City Taxation Division, stated, "This achievement is the result of our efforts to further advance the provincial tax collection system and realize tax justice," adding, "We will continue to implement a variety of tax administration policies to ensure fair taxation in the future."
