Additional Embezzlement Charges Filed Against Former Managers
Broadcaster Narae Park has undergone her first police investigation in connection with the case in which she accused her former managers of attempted extortion.
According to the police and her agency, Narae Park appeared privately at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on December 19 and was questioned as the complainant for about six hours. This investigation followed Park's complaint filed on December 5, accusing her former managers of attempted extortion.
On December 20, the day after the investigation, Narae Park additionally filed a complaint at Yongsan Police Station against two former managers on charges of occupational embezzlement. One of the accused former managers completed a police investigation on the same day.
Park's side explained that the former managers were accused of extortion on December 6, alleging that they demanded a large sum of money through false claims. The agency added that further action was taken after confirming that the former managers had established a private corporation and that funds had been siphoned off under the pretext of agency fees.
The investigation is also ongoing into a separate case in which former Korean Medical Association President Lim Hyuntaek accused Narae Park and a non-medical individual referred to as "Injection Aunt" of violating the Medical Crime Control Act.
Currently, Narae Park and her former managers are in conflict over allegations of workplace abuse and illegal medical procedures. The former managers have accused Park of workplace bullying, aggravated assault, and proxy prescriptions, and have filed complaints with the Gangnam Police Station on charges including aggravated assault, defamation, and violation of the Information and Communications Network Act.
Narae Park suspended her activities on December 8. She later stated through a video that she would "verify the facts through legal procedures."
