Proposing Strategies for Sustainable Tourism Revitalization in Goseong County through ICT Tourism
Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) held a performance-sharing event on December 22 for the "Hallym M-Campus@Goseong Regional Problem-Solving Joint Project," which was promoted in collaboration with Goseong County as part of the Glocal University 30 initiative.
This event was organized to comprehensively share the outcomes of research projects and curriculum-linked achievements based on university-industry-community cooperation, all aimed at addressing local issues. The program included: ▲ a comprehensive presentation of the joint project’s results ▲ presentations of PBL course outcomes ▲ and the awarding of plaques of appreciation and commendations. Professor Song Hwaseong, who led the joint project, and five teams from the PBL curriculum received commendations.
Goseong County Governor Ham Myungjun stated, "This joint project is an exemplary case of the university’s research capabilities being organically combined with the policy needs of the region. We will continue to actively pursue sustainable development of Goseong County’s tourism industry and the resolution of local issues through ongoing cooperation with Hallym University."
Bang Kisuk, Head of the Shared Collaboration Center and dedicated professor for Goseong M-Campus, commented, "This research project is significant because it went beyond simple academic research; students considered real regional issues through their coursework and proposed practical solutions. It was an opportunity to confirm that a local government-university cooperation model based on M-Campus can lead to tangible contributions to the region."
This research project, under the theme "Developing Strategies for Sustainable Tourism Revitalization in Goseong County Utilizing ICT Tourism," was conducted in conjunction with the PBL course of the Convergence Tourism Management major at the School of Future Convergence. In addition to Goseong County, private organizations such as Urban Research Institute and Unique Good Company participated, jointly developing specialized tourism content and implementation strategies for Goseong County.
Based on the experience gained from operating this project, Hallym University plans to further develop Hallym M-Campus as a practical hub for solving regional issues and to continuously expand the university-industry-community cooperation model that fosters mutual growth between the region and the university.
