Namyangju City Holds Career Lecture at Jugok Elementary, Delivers Message of Dreams and Hope Inspired by Jeong Yak-yong

On December 23, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province held a special career lecture for 124 sixth-grade students at Jugok Elementary School, under the theme "Sharing Dreams and Hopes Embracing the Spirit of Jeong Yak-yong, Steps Toward Dreams."

This special lecture was organized to help young people learn the value of self-respect and the meaning of dreams based on the spirit of Jeong Yak-yong, so that they can design their own career paths.

During the lecture, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok introduced the poem "Grass Flower" by poet Na Taejoo, emphasizing that discovering one's own value and respecting oneself are the first steps toward achieving one's dreams.

He also quoted Dasan Jeong Yak-yong's words, "For those who have dreams, tomorrow is youth and hope," expressing his hope that the students would reflect on the lives they want to lead and consider the mindset and efforts needed to achieve their dreams.

Mayor Joo added, "When you have pride in being a precious person, your attitude toward life changes," and emphasized that "the process of continuously conversing with and nurturing your dreams, as well as consistently recording and studying like Jeong Yak-yong, ultimately becomes the driving force to achieve your dreams."

Students who attended the special lecture said, "This lecture made me reflect once again on how valuable I am," and "It was a meaningful time where I learned that believing in and supporting myself is important to realize my dreams."

Meanwhile, since last year, the city has operated career special lectures at 12 schools in the district, including Jugok Elementary School, and plans to provide a variety of career education programs in 2026 to help students explore their studies and dreams and build future competencies.
