Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon expressed his support on the 23rd for the passage of the "Special Court for Insurrection Cases Act."
On this day, Governor Kim stated in a post on his social networking service (SNS), "By passing the Special Court for Insurrection Cases Act, the National Assembly has pooled its wisdom to eliminate any constitutional controversy," adding, "It is our collective historical responsibility to completely settle the issue of insurrection and to thoroughly hold all participants accountable."
He continued, "We must do everything possible right now," emphasizing, "There must be no delay, compromise, or exception in the judgment of the '12·3 Insurrection.'"
He further stated, "Only resolute rulings and strict punishment can uphold the justice of history," and added, "I also hope that the 'Second Comprehensive Special Prosecutor Act' will be passed as soon as possible."
Earlier on the same day, the National Assembly passed the "Special Act on Criminal Procedures for Crimes of Insurrection, Treason, and Rebellion," which centers on establishing a separate dedicated court to swiftly and fairly handle cases related to the 12·3 Martial Law incident and associated insurrection charges.
