Shinhan University Uncovers 45 Ideas from Students, Faculty, and Citizens
Practical Policy Proposals Emerge, Including Campus Passport and Earth-ly Student Meals
2025 ESG Innovation Policy Idea Contest Award Ceremony Held

This contest was promoted as part of the University Innovation Support Project, aiming to discover policy ideas based on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) from students, faculty, staff, and citizens, and to apply them to university management and solving local community issues.
Previously, on November 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Shinhan University held the 'ESG Innovation Policy Idea Contest Judging Committee' in Seminar Room 4 on the 3rd floor of Mideum Building, where the final awardees were selected. The judging committee consisted of a total of seven members, including two internal and five external judges, ensuring a fair and professional evaluation process.
The internal judges were Director Kwon Ogeun and Team Leader Lee Nakyung of the ESG Innovation Team. The external judges included Kim Inhan, Managing Patent Attorney at Sewon Patent & Law Firm (Chair), Jo Junwon, former Acting President of Gangbuk-gu Urban Management Corporation, Lim Cheoljae, former Executive Director of Seoul Newspaper, Attorney Koo Yulhwa, and Woo Juhyun, Head of the Daejeon Office at the Press Arbitration Commission.
A total of 45 participants reached the finals of this contest, including 19 students, 10 faculty and staff members, and 16 citizens, each proposing a variety of ESG policy ideas. The evaluation was based on criteria such as alignment with the contest's purpose and theme, feasibility, and the degree to which ESG values were reflected.
In the student category, the grand prize went to Kim Minkyoung for the idea 'Campus ESG Passport: A Carbon Reduction Journey Project Connecting Digital and Reality,' receiving a presidential commendation and a prize of 700,000 KRW. The top excellence award was given to the student team of Kim Minseo, Kim Yejoon, and Song Haeun for 'Shinhan University & Uijeongbu City: Youth-Led Local Branding for Regional Coexistence,' while the excellence award went to Seo Minji and Kim Youngsun for 'Greening Our School.'
In the faculty and staff category, Jin Minkyoung received the grand prize for 'Value Consumption Campus in Cooperation with Local Farms: Shinhan Earth-ly Student Meal Project.' The top excellence award went to Kim Myunghee for 'Eco-Friendly Mission Calendar (Faculty and Staff Participatory ESG Practice Diary and Performance Measurement System),' and the excellence award went to Kim Sohee for 'Paperless Administration, Smart Shinhan (No Paper, Smart SHINHAN).'
In the citizen category, the grand prize was awarded to Ko Giwon for 'Shinhan ESG Living Lab: Building a Major-Linked Local Community Problem-Solving Platform.' The top excellence award went to Song Wooseok for 'Shinhan University-Local Coexistence-Based Local ESG Partnership Project,' and the excellence award was given to Choi Eunji and Park Chanhyo for 'Urban History Archive Collaboration Project.'
Kwon Ogeun, Director of the Shinhan University ESG Innovation Team, stated, "This contest is significant in that university members and citizens came together to contemplate ESG innovation policies and present practical possibilities. The winning entries will be actively incorporated into future university ESG policies and local community-linked projects to create a sustainable future."
