Strengthening Communication with the Region through Policy Briefings
Jokook, leader of the Jokook Innovation Party, will visit the Honam region starting on December 24. During this period, he plans to tour key sites in Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, directly listen to local issues, and explain political reform and the party’s policy direction as part of a “Honam Focus Week.”
The Jokook Innovation Party announced on December 23 that its leader and executive members will conduct an intensive visit to Honam beginning on the 24th. On the first day, Jokook will pay his respects at the memorial altar for the victims of the Gwangju Library collapse, set up at the Gwangju 5·18 Democracy Plaza. He will then visit the memorial altar on the first floor of Jeonil Building, commemorating the first anniversary of the 12·29 aircraft disaster.
Jokook will also hold a meeting with the delegation and board members of Chamyeo Jachi 21, a Gwangju-based civic group that issued a statement on Honam political reform and the party’s role, to hear the opinions of the local civil society. That evening, he will attend the opening ceremony of the Santa Festival held in the Metaprovince area of Damyang, where he will meet with local residents.
On December 26, he will visit the “Young Kim Dae-jung Study Room” in Mokpo to reflect on the life and political philosophy of former President Kim Dae-jung, followed by an on-site Supreme Council meeting at the South Jeolla Provincial Party office. He will then continue communication with local party members and residents by holding a meeting with Jangseong County party members at the Jangseong Future Development Institute and a policy briefing at the Gokseong County Citizens’ Center. On December 27, he plans to hold a policy briefing in Gochang after visiting Jeongeup and Buan.
A Jokook Innovation Party official stated, “This visit to Honam is intended to directly listen to local issues and share our policy direction,” adding, “We will seek alternatives for political reform and regional development by paying close attention to the voices of local residents.”
