Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province has achieved the highest grade (A) for the second consecutive year in the 2025 Board of Audit and Inspection’s Self-Audit Activity Evaluation (based on 2024 performance).
The Board of Audit and Inspection conducts annual evaluations of self-audit organizations within central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions in accordance with the Public Audit Act, aiming to establish an efficient national audit system and strengthen internal controls. The overall evaluation grades for each category (A to D) are made public.
This year, a total of 486 institutions were assessed based on three criteria: the level of interest and commitment to supporting self-audit organizations at the institutional level; the composition and staffing of self-audit organizations; and the performance of self-audit activities.
Yangju City received high marks among basic local governments with a population of less than 300,000, earning the highest grade again this year following last year’s achievement. In particular, the city was recognized for its excellence in the “internal control support” category, which evaluates the level of interest and commitment to supporting self-audit organizations at the institutional level.
A Yangju City official stated, “Audit activities are a core value for becoming an institution trusted by citizens,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to establish a responsible audit culture.”
