Jeongseok Inha Academy, the school foundation, held a board meeting on December 18 and reappointed Hee Young Hur as the 10th President of Korea Aerospace University. The new term will last four years, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029.
President Hur is credited with laying the groundwork for a new leap forward for the university, going beyond mere survival during a period of rapid change over the past four years. During his tenure, he led bold innovations, strengthened communication and performance feedback systems, and established a dynamic campus culture. He also significantly enhanced students' ability to choose their majors by fully introducing the free major selection system and mandatory double major requirement. Additionally, he maximized the university's brand value by launching the Graduate School of Aerospace Policy, the Advanced Program in Aerospace, and the Department of International Exchange, as well as changing the name of the Korea Aerospace University subway station.
During his upcoming term, President Hur plans to pursue internal stability and consolidation of the university through "KAU VISION 2030." He aims to achieve stable revenue models and open an era of a 200 billion won budget, with the goal of ranking among the top 10 universities in Korea. In addition, he intends to solidify Korea Aerospace University's position as a comprehensive global aerospace university by building a global education platform and expanding university infrastructure.
Regarding his reappointment, President Hur emphasized, "Korea Aerospace University is the only comprehensive university in Korea that enables convergence and collaboration across all fields of aerospace. Leveraging this unique strength, I will ensure that Korea Aerospace University becomes not only a cradle of aerospace education but also a global platform for university innovation."
President Hur graduated from Korea Aerospace University and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in business administration from Seoul National University. He is an expert in airline management, having authored more than ten specialized books on aviation, and has served as president of the Korea Aviation Management Society and the Central Asia Studies Association. Within the university, he has held key positions including Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of the College of Aviation and Business, and Director of the CEO Academy.
