Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries’ cumulative order volume for the year, combining shipbuilding and offshore production facilities, has reached a total of 7.4 billion USD (approximately 10.98 trillion KRW). The orders comprise nine LNG carriers, nine shuttle tankers, nine container carriers, two ethane carriers, eleven crude oil carriers, and one preliminary contract for offshore production facilities. In the offshore production facility segment, the company is pursuing a new contract for one unit, following the subsequent procedures for the preliminary contract.
Of this total, the shipbuilding sector alone accounts for 6.6 billion USD, surpassing the annual target of 5.8 billion USD. As of this date, Samsung Heavy Industries’ cumulative order backlog stands at 132 vessels, worth 28.3 billion USD.
A representative from Samsung Heavy Industries stated, “Based on our sufficient order backlog, we are continuing to pursue a profitability-focused order strategy,” adding, “We will continue to respond in line with market changes.”
