Awards for Outstanding Companies and Special Lecture on Entrepreneurship
Strengthening Cooperation in the Local Startup Ecosystem
The Startup Support Group at Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) announced on the 23rd that it held the 4th MECA Startup Day to share the achievements of the Startup-Centered University Project and to strengthen the foundation for cooperation among startup companies.
The Startup Support Group, together with the Small and Medium Business Startup Incubation Center and the RISE Future New Industry Leading Headquarters, hosted the event on the 19th at Signiel Busan. More than 170 participants, including beneficiary companies of the Startup-Centered University Project, partner organizations, local startup-related institutions, and investors, attended the event, demonstrating high interest.
This achievement-sharing event was organized to share the main results of the Startup-Centered University support project carried out throughout the year and to reinforce a mutually beneficial cooperation system between startups and partner organizations. The program included sharing of project achievements, presentation of appreciation plaques, case studies from outstanding companies, a special lecture on entrepreneurship, and networking.
At the event, appreciation plaques for social contribution were awarded to partner organizations that contributed to the development of the startup ecosystem: Busan Technology Startup Investment Foundation, Krypton, and Chokwang Paint. In addition, appreciation plaques for outstanding companies were presented to startups that achieved excellent results: K Watercraft, SodamSodam, Terra INC, and Next Battery.
Broadcaster and entrepreneur Ko Myunghwan gave a special lecture on the topic "How to Work with Excitement 365 Days a Year," sharing his experiences with challenges and failures in the startup process, as well as insights on sustainable growth, which resonated with the audience. In addition, a traditional Korean music performance by the College of Arts at Busan National University provided a cultural exchange platform that blended entrepreneurship and culture.
Kang Jungeun, Head of the Startup Support Group at Busan National University (Professor of Urban Engineering), said, "This MECA Startup Day was a meaningful occasion to not only share the achievements of the Startup-Centered University Project but also to bring together key players in the local startup ecosystem to explore directions for cooperation. We will continue to actively support the sustainable growth of startups and the establishment of a virtuous startup ecosystem."
