Partial Amendment to the Enforcement Decree Approved
Installment Payments Now Available Four or Six Times a Year
On December 23, the government held a Cabinet meeting at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries building in Busan, where it reviewed and approved a partial amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Employment Promotion and Vocational Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The purpose of this amendment is to reduce the financial burden on business owners by allowing small and medium-sized enterprises to pay employment levy installments up to four or six times a year, regardless of the amount. The revised decree will apply to cases where business owners pay the levy after the enforcement of the amendment.
The employment levy is a fee imposed on business owners who do not meet the mandatory employment quota for persons with disabilities, as stipulated by the Act on the Employment Promotion and Vocational Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
Previously, the employment levy for persons with disabilities could only be paid in installments if the amount exceeded 1 million won. However, as rising prices and economic downturns have made it difficult for small and medium-sized business owners to raise funds, the need for institutional improvements regarding various payment obligations, including levies, has been raised, leading to this amendment.
