GC Green Cross announced on December 23 that it was selected as an "Outstanding Institution for the Safe Management of Test and Research-use LMO (Living Modified Organism)" and received the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the 4th Life Research Resources Performance Exchange Meeting held at the Daejeon Convention Center on December 19.
The Ministry of Science and ICT annually evaluates research institutions and facilities that handle test and research-use LMOs for their overall safety management systems, and presents this award to organizations that demonstrate outstanding performance.

GC Green Cross was recognized as an outstanding institution for its high marks in several areas: compliance with LMO-related regulations, advancement of biosafety management equipment and supplies, implementation of tailored regular and ongoing LMO safety training, and the establishment and continuous operation of an electronic review system for the Institutional Biosafety Committee.
In particular, GC Green Cross operates an integrated safety management system at its headquarters in Yongin as well as at its Ochang, Hwasun, and Eumseong plants, ensuring the safe management of various LMOs used in research and development. The company also allocates a dedicated budget for biosafety management to continuously improve its safety infrastructure and maintains a management system that regularly addresses risk factors through internal inspections.
The company explained that, in addition to LMO safety management, it is establishing a "safety-first" culture by strengthening safety inspections and promoting safety awareness activities to create a safe working environment for all employees.
Ma Seonghun, Head of Medicine Discovery & Development (MDD) at GC Green Cross and the person responsible for safety and health management, stated, "We will continue to enhance the safety standards at research sites through strict compliance with regulations and ongoing safety management," adding, "We will fulfill our duties and responsibilities as a management institution and contribute to public health."
