Nongshim Opens Fourth Global Shin Ramyun Bunsik Outlet
From "Hangang Ramyun" Style Shin Ramyun to Snacks
Promoting the Value of K-Food to Travelers Worldwide
Nongshim announced on December 23 that it opened the fourth global branch of "Shin Ramyun Bunsik" at Terminal 1 of John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York, United States, on December 19.
Since launching the first Shin Ramyun Bunsik in Machu Picchu, Peru, last April, Nongshim has expanded to Harajuku in Japan and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Now, by establishing a presence in New York, a global hub of economy and culture, the company aims to solidify its position as the leading K-ramen brand. Shin Ramyun Bunsik is an experiential space directly operated by Nongshim, allowing customers to enjoy Shin Ramyun in the global market.
The fourth Shin Ramyun Bunsik branch is a permanent cafeteria-style outlet located in the food court on the fourth floor of Terminal 1 at JFK Airport. Terminal 1 brings together major global airlines, and Nongshim plans to offer travelers from around the world a unique culinary experience of Korean spiciness. This move signifies an expansion of Shin Ramyun's reach from in-flight meals to global airports.
Taking into account the unique environment of the airport, Nongshim focused on creating a menu that is both quick and convenient while maintaining the authentic taste of ramyun. Visitors can enjoy Shin Ramyun prepared "Hangang Ramyun" style, cooked on the spot by staff using instant cooking machines. There is also a "topping bar" where customers can personalize their Shin Ramyun with a variety of ingredients such as eggs and cheese.
The menu has been diversified to include not only flagship products like Shin Ramyun and Shin Ramyun Black, but also "Shin Ramyun Tomba," which has recently gained popularity in the global market, and "Soon Ramyun," which caters to the vegan trend. In addition, Nongshim is offering its well-known snacks such as Banana Kick and Shrimp Crackers, which are recognized as favorite snacks of famous K-pop stars, providing a comprehensive K-food experience that combines ramyun and snacks.
Nongshim's strategy is to further enhance brand recognition in the U.S. market through the opening of the New York JFK Airport branch. By operating a store at the largest gateway in the United States, which serves more than 62 million people annually, the company aims to position Shin Ramyun as a "global K-food" enjoyed by travelers worldwide, beyond just being a Korean ramyun.
A Nongshim representative stated, "New York JFK Airport, at the forefront of global trends, is a landmark in the U.S. that can showcase the global status of Shin Ramyun. Through Shin Ramyun Bunsik, which travelers encounter at the beginning and end of their journeys, we hope Shin Ramyun will remain an unforgettable memory for consumers around the world."
