Hanwha Asset Management Successfully Completes Second Session of "Financial Education for Independent Youth"

The "Financial Education for Independent Youth" program provides basic asset management education for "independent youth" who have been living independently for four to eight years after leaving care facilities. Out of a total of 64 applicants, 11 participants were selected. According to the program’s definition, "independent youth" refers to individuals who are at a stage where support previously received as youth preparing for independence has decreased, and they are now beginning their actual social lives and need to start managing their assets.

The selected participants attended a total of five in-person sessions from August to December. These included three sessions on topics such as the necessity of asset management, macroeconomic basics, financial products and Individual Savings Accounts (ISA), retirement pay and pensions, as well as two mentoring sessions with employees to address questions about asset management. Those who completed the entire program received a total of 2 million won per person as self-reliance support funds, provided by the "Bright World Fund," which is funded by Hanwha Asset Management employees.

The successful completion of the program was made possible by Hanwha Asset Management employee volunteers. All sessions were conducted with voluntary participation from employees, and the curriculum was composed according to each volunteer’s area of expertise.

Park Chanwoo, a manager on the ETF Management Team who participated in the education, said, "As interest in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) among the 2030 generation has grown recently, I felt it was necessary to share accurate information and usage methods. I applied because I had the opportunity to share this with independent youth," adding, "It was a more meaningful experience because I could share what I had accumulated through my daily work."

Participants in the second session of the Financial Education for Independent Youth program shared their feedback in a post-program survey, stating, "I realized that investing is essential, and I will work hard on risk management," "I was glad to resolve questions about retirement pay that were difficult to find answers to on my own," and "Financial education often covers things I already know, but this program allowed me to gain deeper knowledge, which was very meaningful."

A Hanwha Asset Management representative stated, "Listening to young people’s stories, we often find that they do not fully understand the risks and sometimes make excessive investments in highly volatile assets, or lose their savings at once due to poor advice or misjudgment. We hope that through this education, they will be able to grow their assets in a stable way with proper risk management."

The representative added, "With a sense of duty as an asset management company entrusted with clients’ assets, we will continue to develop various social contribution programs aimed at establishing a sound investment culture."
