A tragic incident occurred in which a 20-month-old girl drowned after her father, intoxicated by alcohol and drugs, fell asleep in the bathtub.

According to local media outlets such as People on December 20, police in Osceola County, Florida, recently arrested Raynard Tyrone Huff, 33, originally from Washington, D.C., on charges of manslaughter due to child neglect.

Huff is accused of causing the death of his 20-month-old daughter between 2 and 3 a.m. on December 13 at an Airbnb accommodation where the family was staying.

At the time of the incident, the baby was sleeping in the master bedroom with her mother. Huff, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, entered the bedroom, picked up the awakened child, and went to the bathroom.

Huff fell asleep in the bathtub while holding the baby. About 20 minutes later, he woke up when he felt the baby's head slip. The child was unresponsive. Paramedics arrived after being called and transported her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead an hour later.

Huff told police, "I drank alcohol all night and also took two unidentified types of drugs." He added, "The child was awake and seemed to want to be with me, so I took her to the bathtub." Huff is being held without bail at the Osceola County Jail.
