SK Ecoplant announced on December 22 that Youngsik Kim has been officially appointed as the new CEO and President.
On this day, SK Ecoplant held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders at its headquarters in Susong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, where the agenda to appoint Kim as an inside director was approved. Following the shareholders' meeting, Kim was appointed as CEO at the board of directors meeting and will now lead the company as co-CEO alongside Vice Chairman Jang Donghyun. Kim had previously been nominated as President of SK Ecoplant in October.
Kim began his career at Hynix in 1990 and has spent 35 years in the semiconductor manufacturing field. He served as Head of the Icheon Fab at SK Hynix in 2020, and as Head of Manufacturing and Technology in 2022. This year, as Chief Production Officer (CPO), he led the establishment of a mass production system for high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Kim is considered the right person to drive business opportunity development and innovative growth at SK Ecoplant, which is expanding its business model beyond semiconductor infrastructure to include semiconductor materials and modules, artificial intelligence (AI) data center construction, and recycling businesses.
SK Ecoplant stated, "With the appointment of the new CEO, we plan to accelerate the strengthening of our core capabilities in the semiconductor and AI sectors, enhance our business competitiveness, and lay the foundation for sustainable growth."
