Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province visited household waste collection sites to inspect ways to improve residents' living environments and listen to the concerns of on-site workers.
According to Yeongam County on December 22, Woosunghee, the mayor of Yeongam County, visited a household waste collection site at dawn on December 17 to personally check the entire collection process.
On that day, Mayor Woo boarded a waste collection vehicle with on-site workers and accompanied them as they collected waste in densely populated residential areas and commercial districts. During this process, he discussed and reviewed the need for improvements regarding the actual state of illegal dumping, cases of failure to separate recyclables, on-site safety management, and overall working conditions.
In particular, he listened directly to the voices of workers about the risks and working environment encountered during collection operations and emphasized the need for practical improvement measures to reduce inconvenience for residents.
Mayor Woosunghee stated, "Household waste collection is the administrative service closest to residents' daily lives," and added, "I am grateful to all the workers who strive to minimize inconvenience for residents on the ground." He continued, "We will continue to promote the proper culture of separating recyclables and spare no administrative support to ensure that on-site workers can work in a safe and pleasant environment."
Based on this on-site inspection, the county plans to review the entire household waste collection system and establish follow-up measures to improve residents' living environments and strengthen worker safety.
