This achievement is seen as an indicator that Seongju County has achieved balanced development across all areas of agricultural policy, including vegetables, distribution, and food.

In particular, in the vegetable and special crop category, the county’s innovative administration stood out, befitting its reputation as the main production area responsible for over 80% of the nation’s oriental melon output.

The county was highly recognized for actively promoting facility modernization projects, such as providing long-life films for oriental melon cultivation and supporting the installation of side and roof windows as well as thermal covers. These efforts contributed to improving farm productivity and earned Seongju County the Grand Prize.

Significant achievements were also made in the food policy sector.

Despite having less than 3,000 hectares of rice cultivation area, Seongju County was acknowledged for successfully implementing rice production control measures and efficiently executing the agricultural materials budget, including support for organic fertilizers and soil conditioners, thereby stabilizing farm management. As a result, the county received the Excellence Award.

A Seongju County official stated, "We are very proud that our efforts to promote diverse projects in our county’s core crops, oriental melon and food, have resulted in the great honor of winning three awards in the Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Policy Evaluation. We will continue to respond proactively to the rapidly changing agricultural environment and do our utmost to enhance the competitiveness of Seongju agriculture."

With these awards, Seongju County has established itself not only as a 'city centered on oriental melons,' but also as a hub of Gyeongsangbuk-do agriculture equipped with smart farming and an efficient agricultural policy system.
