Uijeongbu City Selected as "Best" in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 2025 Local Finance Analysis Evaluation

The Only City-Level Government in Northern Gyeonggi to Receive an "A" Grade
Ministerial Commendation and Special Grant of 100 Million Won Secured

Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) announced on the 22nd that it has been recognized for its sound fiscal management by being selected as the best local government in the comprehensive category of the "2025 (FY2024) Local Finance Analysis Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Local Finance Analysis Evaluation is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety comprehensively analyzes the fiscal management level of 243 local governments nationwide, evaluating them across three areas: fiscal soundness, efficiency, and planning.

In this year’s evaluation, 13 local governments nationwide were selected as the best institutions in the comprehensive category. Among them, Uijeongbu City was the only city-level government in northern Gyeonggi Province to receive the highest "A" grade, earning a ministerial commendation and securing a special grant of 100 million won.

This achievement was primarily attributed to the city’s prioritization of "efficient fiscal management," which included efforts to increase local tax collection rates and efficient budget planning and execution, even under challenging fiscal conditions.

Additionally, strengthening "fiscal soundness" to ensure sustainable fiscal management-such as improving the consolidated fiscal balance and managing debt through stable financial operations-also played a significant role.

An official from Uijeongbu City stated, "Being selected as the best in the comprehensive category of this fiscal analysis is the result of our efforts to use citizens’ taxes transparently and only where truly needed, without waste. Although fiscal conditions remain difficult, we will continue to actively secure tax revenue and pursue strategic fiscal management to create changes in the city that citizens can truly feel."
