The Ecosystem Conservation Charge Refund Project is a public contest organized by the Ministry of Environment to restore ecosystems in areas where natural environments have been damaged by development projects, using the charges paid for such developments. Projects that deliver significant natural environment conservation benefits and demonstrate high public value are eligible for national funding support.

The selected project aims to restore the damaged waterfront area into a nature-friendly ecological space, thereby enhancing biodiversity and increasing the ecological value of the region.

Through this project, Yangpyeong County plans to strengthen spatial and functional connections with Dumulmeori and Semiwon, which are being considered for designation as national gardens. The county will also expand habitats for wildlife through the restoration of waterfront green spaces, while creating ecological, recreational, and educational spaces accessible to both residents and visitors.

Additionally, the county plans to develop detailed project plans and proceed through the Ministry of Environment's approval process, implementing the project in phases. Upon completion, the project is expected to contribute both to ecosystem conservation and to the revitalization of local tourism.

Jeon Jinseon, Governor of Yangpyeong County, stated, "Being selected for the Ecosystem Conservation Charge Refund Project will serve as an opportunity to further elevate Yangpyeong County's ecological value, alongside our efforts to secure national garden designation. We will do our utmost to create a sustainable ecological environment where nature and people coexist."
