Ansan City to Issue Nation’s First “Youth Card for Fulfilling Military Duty” Starting Next Year

Discounts on Facility Usage Fees, Including Futsal Fields and Camping Sites
Full Exemption from Lifelong Education Institution Tuition Fees

Starting next year, Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province will offer various benefits to young people who have completed their military service, including discounts on facility usage fees and exemptions from lifelong education institution tuition fees.

Ansan City to Issue Nation’s First “Youth Card for Fulfilling Military Duty” Starting Next Year

On December 22, Ansan City Mayor Lee Minkun announced that, beginning in January next year, the city will issue the nation’s first “Youth Card for Fulfilling Military Duty” to young people who have faithfully completed their mandatory military service.

Previously, in September, the city established the “Ordinance on Respect and Support for Young People Fulfilling Military Duty in Ansan City,” providing the institutional basis for these benefits.

To enhance convenience in storage and use, the card will be issued through the “Gyeonggi Tok D Citizen Card” app, part of Gyeonggi Province’s MyData service. Simply presenting the card to staff at locations offering policy benefits will immediately grant the discount.

The card is available to veterans under the age of 39 who are registered residents of Ansan City and have completed their mandatory, mid-term, or long-term active-duty military service. Those wishing to apply can do so online through the “Ansan City Integrated Reservation System.” For those currently serving, the same benefits can be accessed by presenting a certificate of service or a leave permit.

Once issued, the card provides discounts on usage fees for major public facilities that are installed, managed, and operated by the city. Practice usage fees for the Olympic Memorial Hall and sports facilities, as well as fees for the Ansan Hwarang Auto Camping Site, can be discounted by up to 50%. Tuition fees at lifelong education institutions are fully exempted. The city plans to expand the scope of support, such as discounts on public parking fees, after collecting feedback from young people.

For more details, visit the “Youth Policy” section under “Information by Field” on the Ansan City Hall website or contact the city’s Youth Policy Office.

Mayor Lee Minkun stated, “It is a key responsibility of local governments to respect and support young people who have dedicated themselves to the nation as valuable social assets,” adding, “We will actively support young people so they can experience trust in public administration and settle stably in the local community.”
