DataBin to Build Local AI Data Center in Europe with Ireland's Rumcloon Energy

Installation of 'SmartBox' Featuring Immersion Cooling and Redundant Structure Design in the Data Center

DataBin, the manufacturer of the immersion cooling solution 'SmartBox' for data centers, announced on December 22 that it will collaborate with Ireland's renewable energy specialist Rumcloon Energy to establish an eco-friendly artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Ireland.

This project is being carried out as part of the overseas data center expansion support program led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). DataBin will install and demonstrate its 'SmartBox' solution at the Ireland data center, which can simultaneously operate approximately 100 high-performance GPU servers.

SmartBox features an immersion cooling technology that uses a tank filled with non-conductive refrigerant to dissipate heat, and is based on a redundant structure that meets international data center design standards, providing a 24-hour uninterrupted cooling system.

In particular, SmartBox has demonstrated results such as reducing cooling power consumption by 80%, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 40%, and doubling computing power per unit area compared to traditional air cooling methods at domestic conglomerates and public institutions that have already adopted the solution. These achievements contribute to customers' realization of carbon neutrality.

Based on the demonstration results obtained from the Ireland data center, DataBin plans to design a high-efficiency, low-power, eco-friendly data center model optimized for the European environment and pursue further technological cooperation. The company is already expanding its collaboration by preparing a joint proposal with local partners for 'Horizon Europe Innovation Action,' a leading European research program.

Kim Sooyong, CEO of DataBin, stated, "The fact that SmartBox will be installed in the Ireland data center is an important milestone, demonstrating that DataBin's technology meets the requirements of global AI data centers. We will successfully complete the demonstration with our European partners and, in connection with Horizon Europe, solidify our foundation for entering the global market."
