Nationwide Expansion to All Stores by January Next Year
System in Place to Block Orders from Minors
Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on December 22 that Baemin B Mart will begin selling traditional liquor.
This marks the first time in Korea that a quick commerce service, which delivers orders directly to customers’ doorsteps, has offered immediate delivery of traditional liquor. Sales locations include most PPCs nationwide, such as Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province. Baemin plans to expand the service to all B Mart stores by January next year.
Baemin B Mart has broadened its selection, offering a wide range of products from cost-effective options in the 2,000 won range to premium gift items priced around 70,000 won. Popular items such as the fruit wine "Bunja," the "Won Soju" series from One Spirits, and two types of "Won Highball" are now available. In addition, about 40 products known for their popularity and buzz, including "Boksoondoga Son Makgeolli," "Haechang Makgeolli 9 Degree," "Seoul’s Night," and "Saeng Baekseju," have been introduced.
With the year-end and New Year holidays approaching, Baemin expects that many consumers will turn to B Mart for convenient purchases of traditional liquor that pairs well with home party menus. The company also believes this move will support the government’s initiative to foster the traditional liquor industry. By utilizing its nationwide sales network, Baemin aims to introduce traditional liquor to consumers and expand the base of the traditional liquor market, which has high growth potential.
Meanwhile, Baemin has implemented a system that completely blocks orders from minors in accordance with relevant laws. Customers must verify their age through mobile phone authentication under their own name within the app before they can view or order products.
Kim Donghwi, Head of Processed Foods at Woowa Brothers, stated, "We will continue to discover hidden gem breweries across the country, introduce them to our customers, and build a quick commerce ecosystem that promotes mutual growth with local breweries."
