Horizon Europe is the world's largest multilateral research and innovation funding program operated by the European Commission. It is recognized as an international cooperation platform that promotes global joint research and technological collaboration. Since this year, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation has been designated as the National Contact Point (NCP) for Horizon Europe for domestic small and venture businesses, providing comprehensive support such as guidance on the program, consulting, and networking to help domestic companies smoothly participate in joint research and technological collaboration with advanced research institutions abroad.

Approximately 70 experts from industry, academia, and research, including companies supported by the Korea Technology Finance Corporation's Horizon Europe consulting program, universities and businesses with relevant experience, and representatives from major European research institutions such as the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany, attended the event to share directions for promoting international joint research cooperation and strategies for technological innovation.

During the event, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation and the National Research Foundation of Korea signed a "Business Agreement to Strengthen the Global Multilateral Cooperation Capabilities of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises," agreeing to establish a cooperative system to expand SME participation in international joint R&D and to create a sustainable global joint research ecosystem. This was followed by lively discussions on practical topics, including an introduction to the Horizon Europe program, strategies for building European R&D partnerships, global R&D cooperation strategies and success factors, and successful cases of multilateral global R&D.

Kang Dongsup, Head of the International Cooperation Division at the National Research Foundation of Korea, said, "We will continue to support domestic small and medium-sized enterprises so that they can expand their opportunities for global R&D participation through Horizon Europe and actively engage in international cooperation networks."

Kim Daecheol, Director of the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, stated, "As the Horizon Europe NCP, we will systematically support the global joint R&D participation of small and venture businesses and help outstanding technology companies enter the global market through cooperation with advanced countries."
