Sacheon City Council Member Gu Jeonghwa Receives '2025 Local Autonomy Legislative Policy Excellence Award'

Comprehensive Evaluation Including
Improvements in Quality of Life for Local Residents

Gu Jeonghwa, Council Member of Sacheon City Council in Gyeongnam (People Power Party, Sanam and Yonghyeon Districts), announced on December 22 that she received the ‘2025 Local Autonomy Legislative Policy Excellence Award’ hosted by the Yeouido Policy Research Institute at the National Assembly.

This award was given based on a comprehensive evaluation of efforts to revitalize the local autonomy system and improve the quality of life for local residents. Council Member Gu was highly recognized for her diligent legislative activities grounded in objective indicators. The evaluation took into account overall factors such as council attendance rate, fulfillment rate of key pledges, ordinance bill sponsorship records, and the collection and handling of residents’ opinions both individually and at the committee level.

Council Member Gu Jeonghwa has strengthened communication through field-oriented legislative activities such as resolving civil complaints, on-site inspections, and resident meetings. She has continuously proposed policy improvements and institutional changes needed in the region. In particular, she has made it her principle to prioritize ‘action over words, fieldwork over reports,’ focusing on creating tangible changes that residents can truly feel.

In her acceptance speech, Council Member Gu stated, “This award is not so much a personal achievement as it is thanks to the interest and support of our residents,” adding, “I will continue to listen to every voice heard in the field and connect them to policy, striving to bring about real change in the lives of our residents through diligent legislative work.”
