The December evaluation of the 8th Gyeonggi Province administration by residents showed an increase compared to the survey conducted in September.
According to the public opinion survey commissioned by Gyeonggi Province and conducted by the polling agency Next Research in December, 67% of respondents said the provincial administration was "doing well." This figure is up by 6 percentage points from 61% in September, when the same survey design was used. Meanwhile, the percentage of respondents who said the administration was "not doing well" was 21%, down by 1 percentage point from 22% in September.
When asked about their overall trust in the provincial administration, 68% of respondents said they "trust" the Gyeonggi Province administration.
By policy sector, the transportation sector received the highest positive evaluation at 76%. This was followed by the livelihood economy and welfare sectors (66% each), future growth sectors (61%), balanced regional development (58%), climate crisis response and youth sectors (54% each), social value sector (53%), and housing sector (52%).
When asked about the main achievements of the provincial administration, the transportation sector was cited most frequently at 24%. This was followed by the welfare sector (13%), the livelihood economy sector (11%), and both the future growth and balanced regional development sectors (8% each). In addition, youth policy (7%) and the social value, housing, and climate crisis response sectors (4% each) were also mentioned.
Regarding the future direction of the provincial administration, 73% of respondents said that the current level should be maintained or that some improvements are needed.
Kim Wonmyung, Director of Public Relations Planning for Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The increase in positive evaluations and decrease in negative evaluations over the past three months suggest that perceptions of the provincial administration are stabilizing. The high preference for 'maintaining the current level with some improvements' regarding future administration direction also indicates a consensus on a people-centered administration that prioritizes livelihood and the economy."
This survey was commissioned by Gyeonggi Province to Next Research and conducted from December 13 to 17, 2025, targeting 2,000 Gyeonggi Province residents aged 18 and older. The survey was carried out through telephone interviews using wireless virtual numbers. The margin of error is ±2.2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
