"Audio Recordings of Sexual Advances Submitted": Researcher Countersues Heewon Jung for Forcible Molestation After Being Sued for Stalking

A woman in her 30s, identified as Ms. A, who was sued by Dr. Heewon Jung (head of the Slow Aging Research Institute) for stalking, has filed a countersuit against Dr. Jung, accusing him of forcible molestation and other charges.

According to Ms. A's side on December 21, she submitted a complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against Dr. Jung on December 19. The charges include forcible molestation by abuse of power, false accusation, defamation, and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.


Ms. A's representatives explained that they submitted as evidence social media messages and phone recordings allegedly showing Dr. Jung making sexual advances. They added that Ms. A has been suffering because Dr. Jung continued to contact her despite her wishes to avoid contact after the case became widely known.


Dr. Jung previously filed a complaint against Ms. A, who had worked as an “appointed researcher” at his institute, accusing her of attempted blackmail and trespassing, claiming that she had been stalking him since July. The case is currently under investigation by the Seoul Bangbae Police Station.


Ms. A's side maintains that this case constitutes "gender-based violence that occurred within a power relationship." They assert that Dr. Jung repeatedly made sexual demands by abusing his position, and that Ms. A felt compelled to comply out of fear of being dismissed.


On December 19, Dr. Jung posted a statement on YouTube, refuting the allegations by stating, "The claims made by the other party are clearly fictitious, and in particular, the claim that the relationship was based on abuse of power is absolutely untrue."
