Seoul City will establish a "live fire training facility" capable of simulating real fire conditions at the highest level in Korea. The city plans to focus on strengthening urban complex disaster training.

The live fire training facility will be built with one basement level and three above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 1,962 square meters. It will be divided into a "fire training facility" and a "training situation center." The fire training facility will include training installations for observing fire characteristics, effective fire suppression and ventilation methods, response techniques for abnormal fire phenomena such as backdraft, team-based and integrated command tactics, and complex urban multi-story fire suppression and rescue strategies, allowing for various simulated fire scenarios.

The training situation center will be equipped with support facilities such as recovery rooms, showers, equipment storage and cleaning rooms, instructor offices, a real-time training control room, lecture rooms, and seminar rooms.

In particular, the training facility is designed in a dome shape for the first time in Korea, enabling firefighters to train without being affected by the weather. It will also be equipped with a system to filter and discharge harmful substances such as smoke generated during training, taking environmental protection into consideration.

Once completed, the facility will enable firefighters to conduct multi-faceted training in an optimized environment, including live fire suppression, ventilation tactics, and advanced rapid intervention team (RIT) drills. Through this, the city aims to strengthen team-based response capabilities for various disaster situations, while enhancing both the professionalism and efficiency of training operations.

Hong Younggeun, Chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters, stated, "The construction of this training facility is the most crucial future investment, pursued with the conviction that strengthening firefighters' expertise directly translates into citizen safety," and added, "We will make every effort to train elite firefighters who can protect themselves in real fire situations and ensure that not a single citizen is left behind."
