Achieves Latest Copper Mark International ESG Certification
Fully Meets All Core ESG Criteria
SK Nexilis, an SKC copper foil business investment company, has become the first in the battery industry to obtain the international ESG certification, Copper Mark. Notably, among copper foil manufacturers, it is the first to meet the latest Copper Mark standards, officially recognizing its global sustainable management system.
SK Nexilis announced on the 21st that it officially obtained Copper Mark last month, completing all procedures, including on-site inspections and expert verification, in about two years since it began pursuing the certification in December 2023.
Copper Mark is a leading ESG certification system for the global copper industry. It serves as the ESG standard for the global copper value chain, used by automakers and battery manufacturers to verify the sustainability management systems of their supply chains.
Recently, there has been a growing trend across the global battery supply chain to preemptively verify ESG risks from the raw material procurement stage. There is also a clear preference for partners who have undergone credible ESG verification, especially for key materials such as copper.
The Copper Mark certification obtained by SK Nexilis this time is based on Risk Readiness Assessment (RRA) 3.0, the latest audit standard that comprehensively evaluates a company's risk management system and operational level across 32 core ESG elements, including environment, human rights, occupational health and safety, business ethics, local communities, and governance. SK Nexilis achieved the highest rating of "Fully Meet" in all categories under this standard.
With this certification, SK Nexilis has established a foundation to meet the ESG verification standards required by global clients and to effectively respond to the growing demand for responsible sourcing across the industry.
