G-Dragon Sweeps Three Grand Prizes at 'MMA 2025', Wins Seven Awards: "A Meaningful Year"

Singer G-Dragon swept three out of the four grand prizes at the 17th Melon Music Awards (MMA 2025). Jennie received the 'Record of the Year' grand prize for her first full-length album, 'RUBY'.

At the awards ceremony held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 20th, G-Dragon won 'Album of the Year', 'Artist of the Year', and 'Best Song of the Year'. He also took home trophies for 'Top 10', 'Best Solo Male', and 'Best Songwriter', winning a total of seven awards.

Upon receiving 'Album of the Year', he said, "I think this will be remembered as a meaningful year." He continued, "'Ubermensch' means someone who transcends something, and personally, it was like a mantra for myself. I made the album with the desire to become that kind of person." He also added, "Thank you to VIP (BIGBANG fandom), and I miss the BIGBANG members."

Immediately after winning 'Artist of the Year', G-Dragon said, "It means even more because it was given to me by my respected senior, Yoon Jongshin." He added, "Whether you're an idol or a band, I think everyone is an artist. There is no right answer, so I hope you act like the main character." He went on to say, "I will strive to be an artist who fits this moment and will continue to work hard at what I do."

G-Dragon also received 'Best Song of the Year' for 'Home Sweet Home', which he performed with BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung. He commented, "'Home Sweet Home' is the first track on the album, and it's a warm song because the members joined me. It was released around this time last year, and I've spent a warm year since then." He concluded, "Thank you, and I love you."

Upon receiving 'Record of the Year', Jennie said, "This year has been deeply meaningful for me. I released an album, and I'm happy to end the year on a joyful note." She added, "Thank you to everyone who helped create today's stage. I will continue to be an artist who makes great music." She continued, "It's lonely being alone. I miss the BLACKPINK members," and added, "BLINK (BLACKPINK fandom), I will always love you."

On this day, G-Dragon performed 'Power', 'Home Sweet Home', 'Too Bad', and 'Crooked', while Jennie took the stage with 50 dancers for performances of 'Seoul City', 'ZEN', and 'like JENNIE'.

The Rookie Award went to All Day Project and Hats2Hats. All Day Project said, "We will work even harder, starting with this award." Hats2Hats commented, "Thanks to our fans who always support us, we shine on stage. We will repay you with even better performances and songs."

Zico received the Best Producer award, saying, "I accept this award on behalf of the members of KOZ Entertainment. Thank you to BoyNextDoor. I will become a producer who sets an example with great music." BoyNextDoor won four awards: 'Top 10', 'Millions Top 10', 'Best Group', and 'Japan Favorite Artist'. Aespa also won 'Top 10', 'Stage of the Year', and 'Global Artist'.

EXO performed as a five-member unit-Chanyeol, D.O., Suho, Kai, and Sehun-showcasing hits like 'Wolf', 'Monster', and 'Love Shot', as well as unveiling their new song 'Back It Up'. IVE performed hit songs such as 'Attitude' and 'XOXZ', while RIIZE delivered powerful performances of 'Fame', 'Bag Bad Back', and 'Fly Up'.

Other performers at the ceremony included 10cm, WOODZ, IVE, Han Roro, RIIZE, PLAVE, NCT WISH, ILLIT, KIKI, IDIT, and AlphaDriveOne.

Celebrating its 17th year, MMA 2025 is a popular music awards ceremony and festival hosted by Melon, the music platform of Kakao Entertainment. Trophies were awarded based on Melon chart performance. The judging period covered songs released from October 31, 2024, to November 19, 2025.
