G-Dragon Sweeps Three Grand Prizes at 'MMA 2025', Wins Seven Awards: "A Meaningful Year"

Singer G-Dragon swept three out of four grand prizes at the 17th Melon Music Awards (MMA 2025). Jennie received the 'Record of the Year' grand prize for her first full-length album, "RUBY."

At the awards ceremony held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 20th, G-Dragon won 'Album of the Year,' 'Artist of the Year,' and 'Best Song of the Year.' He took home a total of seven trophies, including 'Top 10,' 'Best Male Solo,' and 'Best Songwriter.'

Upon receiving 'Album of the Year,' he said, "I think this will be remembered as a meaningful year." He continued, "'Ubermensch' means someone who transcends, and personally, it was like a mantra for myself. I made the album with the desire to become that kind of person." He also expressed, "I'm grateful to VIP (BIGBANG's fandom) and I miss the BIGBANG members."

After winning 'Artist of the Year,' G-Dragon said, "It's even more valuable because it was given to me by a senior I respect, Yoon Jongshin." He added, "Whether you're an idol or a band, I believe everyone is an artist. There is no right answer, so I hope everyone acts like the main character." He went on to say, "I will strive to be an artist who fits this very moment, and I will continue to work hard at what I do."

G-Dragon also received 'Best Song of the Year' for "HOME SWEET HOME," which he performed with BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung. He commented, "'HOME SWEET HOME' is the first track on the album, and it’s a warm song because the members joined me. It was released around this time last year, and I spent a warm year because of it." He added, "Thank you, and I love you all."

Jennie, after receiving 'Record of the Year,' said, "This year has been deeply meaningful for me. I released an album, and I'm glad I can end the year on a happy note." She added, "Thank you to everyone who helped create today's stage. I will continue to be an artist who makes great music." She also said, "Being alone, I feel lonely. I miss the BLACKPINK members," and added, "BLINK (BLACKPINK's fandom), I always love you."

On this day, G-Dragon performed "POWER," "HOME SWEET HOME," "TOO BAD," and "Crooked," while Jennie took the stage with 50 dancers for "Seoul City," "ZEN," and "like JENNIE."

The Best New Artist awards went to All Day Project and Hearts to Hearts. All Day Project said, "We will work even harder, starting with this award." Hearts to Hearts stated, "Thanks to our fans who always support us, we shine on stage. We will repay you with even better performances and songs."

Zico received the Best Producer award, saying, "I'm accepting this award on behalf of the members of KOZ Entertainment. Thank you to BoyNextDoor. I will strive to be a producer who sets an example with great music." BoyNextDoor won four awards: 'Top 10,' 'Millions Top 10,' 'Best Group,' and 'Japan Favorite Artist.' Aespa also received 'Top 10,' 'Stage of the Year,' and 'Global Artist.'

EXO performed as a five-member unit-Chanyeol, Doh Kyungsoo, Suho, Kai, and Sehun-showcasing "Wolf," "Monster," "Love Shot," and their new song "Back It Up." IVE performed hit songs such as "Attitude" and "XOXZ," while RIIZE delivered powerful performances of "Fame," "Bag Bad Back," and "Fly Up."

Other performers at the awards included 10cm, WOODZ, IVE, Han Roro, RIIZE, PLAVE, NCT WISH, ILLIT, KIKI, I.D.I.T, and AlphaDriveOne.

Celebrating its 17th edition this year, MMA 2025 is a popular music awards ceremony and festival hosted by Kakao Entertainment's music platform Melon. Trophies were awarded based on Melon chart performance. The judging period covered songs released from October 31, 2024, to November 19, 2025.
