President Lee: "The Ministry of Justice Exercises State-Sanctioned Force... Must Not Lose Public Trust"

President Lee: "The Ministry of Justice Exercises State-Sanctioned Force... Must Not Lose Public Trust" Yonhap News Agency

On December 19, President Lee Jaemyung stated to the Ministry of Justice, "It is a crucial institution that ultimately exercises state authority to maintain the rule of law in the nation," adding, "It must be as procedurally just as possible, the outcomes must also be just, and I hope you do not lose the trust of the people."

President Lee made these remarks during a work briefing by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, held at the annex of the Government Complex Seoul that afternoon. He said, "The Ministry of Justice is an institution that exercises state-sanctioned force in an institutionalized manner."

President Lee also commented on the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, saying, "Although the name has changed, it remains an important institution that implements equality policies as a system among the people."

He continued, "It is also an institution that needs to take good care of family culture and internal family issues, but it seems that for quite some time it has not been properly treated as a state institution. I hope that from now on, you will fulfill your given role well."
