Crime Psychology Program Featuring The Sisa Law
OTT service Wavve has unveiled its new content lineup targeting 2026. Wavve plans to strengthen its platform competitiveness through a diversification strategy that encompasses variety shows, dramas, and journalistic documentaries.
The key themes of Wavve’s variety show strategy for 2026 are "fandom" and "controversy." The lineup features a large number of reality programs that go beyond simple entertainment, aiming to spark social discussions and build a strong fandom based on viewer participation and immersion.
First, in January, Wavve will exclusively release "Read," a variety program that delves into criminal psychology. Produced by the teams behind "Unanswered Questions" and "The Day’s Story That Leads to Another," this program conveys behind-the-scenes stories and the emotions of those involved in real cases, based on handwritten letters they wrote themselves.
"Read" is structured around letters received by the media outlet The Sisa Law from actual parties involved in incidents. Seo Dongjoo, Pyo Changwon, and attorney Park Junyoung will appear to explore the background and key issues of each case from multiple perspectives.
The Sisa Law, launched in September 2024, is a legal news outlet specializing in legal cases, corrections, and social issues. It is known as the most widely read media among correctional facility inmates.
Variety shows that put social controversy front and center will also follow. "Ideology Verification Zone: The Community," which addressed ideological conflicts in Korean society through a community experiment format, achieved a reverse-run hit and won the Best Variety & Culture Program at the Blue Dragon Series Awards. The show will return with its second season in September. The production team has announced that season two will feature an expanded setting and bolder experiments.
In addition, the "Bloody Game" series, which ranked first in combined TV-OTT buzz and became the most successful Wavve original variety show, will return in June with a new installment titled "Bloody Game X" (working title). The series is expected to attract survival genre fans with even more intense psychological warfare and strategic gameplay.
