Uiseong County has achieved the highest marks in the Gyeongbuk regional economic revitalization evaluation by implementing livelihood economy policies that residents can directly feel in their daily lives.
Uiseong County Proves Performance Through Perceived Economy, Selected as Best in Regional Economic Revitalization
On December 19, Uiseong County (Governor Kim Jusu) announced that it was selected as the best institution at the '2025 Regional Economic Revitalization Excellent City and County Evaluation' awards ceremony held at Sono Belle in Cheongsong on December 17, receiving an institutional commendation and a prize of 5 million won.
This evaluation was conducted by Gyeongsangbuk-do, which comprehensively analyzed the performance of regional economic policies over the past year for 22 cities and counties in the province, based on 11 key indicators including support for small business owners, revitalization of traditional markets, management of local gift certificates, and price stabilization.
Uiseong County quickly distributed livelihood recovery consumption coupons and proactively implemented special measures for stabilizing livelihoods, thereby kickstarting the recovery of local consumption. In addition, by expanding the issuance and increasing the discount rate of the Uiseong Love Gift Certificate, as well as designating more reasonably priced businesses, the county promoted a series of practical, daily-life policies that increased residents’ sense of tangible benefit.
In particular, special support for small business owners’ electricity bills, free operation of rural buses, and events to promote consumption at traditional markets and shopping districts were highly rated by the evaluation committee, as these policies not only reduced household burdens but also led to a real increase in sales for local businesses.
Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, stated, "This achievement is the result of making the recovery of the livelihood economy our top priority and tirelessly seeking solutions in the field," adding, "We will continue to develop regional economic policies that empower residents in their daily lives, making Uiseong a better and more vibrant place to live."
This award for Uiseong County is recognized as setting a standard for rural livelihood economy policies, as its structural approach-encompassing not only one-off support but also costs related to consumption, transportation, and energy-has proven effective in revitalizing the local economy.
