Starting in January next year, Incheon City will launch the 'Incheon eWallet' service, a unified public service application (app).
The Incheon eWallet features a system that allows users to easily issue a 'digital ID' for identity verification using blockchain technology. It integrates a variety of administrative and welfare services into a single mobile app, enabling citizens to access public services safely and conveniently.
Through this app, users can apply for Incheon City initiatives, verify their status as Incheon citizens, store and submit electronic certificates linked with Government24, and participate in citizen engagement challenges. The app also offers services such as the 'Eco Hub Platform' for managing resource circulation activities, the 'Island Pass' for tracking island tourism history, and the 'Intellectual Property Protection Platform' for the protection and support of ideas.
The city plans to conduct a pilot operation until the 31st, during which it will gather feedback from a panel of 100 citizen participants to assess service stability, review the operational system, and improve service quality.
Recognizing the value of blockchain technology, the city has been focusing on the 'Blockchain Hub City Initiative' to enhance convenience for both citizens and businesses. The Incheon eWallet app was developed to allow citizens to directly experience the benefits of these blockchain projects in their daily lives.
An Incheon City official stated, "We expect that citizens will be able to access a wider range of public services more conveniently and safely," adding, "We will strive to establish Incheon eWallet as a comprehensive platform for citizen engagement."
